François! explores the many possibilities that may have represented Payette’s life and early family in the Northwest, focusing on his relationships with other trappers and indigenous peoples. Soon after his arrival in Idaho, there was growing heartbreak in this beautiful and vast landscape as emigrants began clashing with native peoples who tried to maintain an ancient way of life.
