This was my first book by H K Brown but it will definitely not be my last. This story has all the emotions and made it so hard to put down, but at times I hated to continue. Kayla and Michael had such a rollercoaster time that I wanted to stay at the peaks but I knew a valley was coming. It’s been a long time since I read a book that made me want to continue because I had to know how H K Brown would put it all back together, but I knew it had to happen. I am going to go back and read book one and can’t wait to read more books by H K Brown!
I am reading H.K. Brown's work for the first time with Coming Home, and what a roller coaster of an emotional ride this one was.
Reading the blurb of this book prior to reading it already predisposed me to despising the MMC, Michael. And when I did finally read the book and found out what exactly he did to the FMC, Kayla, I was just enraged. Really, you'd hate the man for what we did! But then of course, that's precisely the beauty of this story, because eventually we are made to understand why Michael was the way he was, and one cannot help but empathize with both him and Kayla for the painful and difficult ordeal they went through together. Kayla was astounding in this story - you cannot help but admire her inner fortitude for enduring all that she went through because of Michael and still had the grace to be kind and supportive of him when he was in the process of mending himself. And then of course there was Ben, the man who loved Kayla but did not have the fortune to be requited for his feelings for her. At one point I really wanted Kayla to end up with him instead as he was just an incredible person. What he did for Kayla in the end, well my heart just broke for him.
This to me was a beautiful story about an extremely loyal love, self-sacrifice, and forgiveness. It places the spotlight on the importance of having the strength it takes to commit to the process of self-healing before love can ever be truly felt and given. After the heartbreak I went through in the book, I was thus immensely gratified at how things were concluded in the end for both Kayla and Michael. Thank heavens for their heartwarming happy ending!
I received an ARC of this book from the author and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
This book had me in such a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the book.
I cried. I laughed. I smiled. And then I did it all over again.
This book was truly special. I felt like I was Kayla with how Brown wrote this story. I felt every feeling throughout the entire book.
I was on the edge of my seat through the whole thing.
These characters were beautifully written and I cannot wait to see the rest of these characters develop through the rest of the series.
What a beautiful love story. H K Brown always takes you for an amazing roller coaster ride in these stories. If you are looking for a good read grab this one!
