Jeffrey Shearer, PhD, LCSW, is a trauma therapist, author, and educator with over 30 years of experience dedicated to mental health and healing. He founded Tykes & Teens, a nonprofit organization on Florida’s Treasure Coast that has provided high-quality mental health services to over 35,000 children and families. Dr. Shearer’s career has focused extensively on supporting male survivors of sexual abuse and interpersonal trauma, as well as developing innovative therapeutic approaches to address the deeper impacts of PTSD, anxiety, and relationship challenges. Dr. Shearer’s expertise includes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, psychodrama, and trauma-informed care. He has trained professionals in topics such as unconscious bias, human sexuality, and trauma-informed leadership, and served as adjunct faculty at Florida Atlantic University, where he taught clinical trauma treatment, child development, and family therapy. As the author of "Beyond the Shiny Object", Dr. Shearer provides a groundbreaking framework for therapists to explore the intersection of trauma, sexual development, and family systems theory. He earned his PhD in Sexology from the Modern Sex Therapy Institute and continues to offer supervision, corporate training, and therapy through his private practice.
